Let me start by saying that I have a busy life with minimal breaks. Sound familiar? Even with a routine, it seems as though there is always some kind of chaos albeit “controlled” chaos…for the most part. Living this way could lend me the right to use excuses for why I’m not yet a published author. However, that is not the case at the moment.
Over the past few months, I’ve been writing a steampunk ghost story. It had started off with the intent of a writing exercise idea I had. Before I knew it, I was writing an outline that led to character profiles and several chapters. I was planning on writing the final five chapters of my rough draft this month, yet life rarely sticks with our plans.
I was sitting by a fire one late afternoon. Looking through my notebook, I was excited and anxious to have my draft completed. While gazing into the twisted flames, I thought to myself, It’s not done.
It was then I began expanding my plot, creating new characters and their back stories while shifting the reader’s focus all for the sake of ensuring the full message of the story was conveyed. I’d like to place the published version in your hands right now solely because I’m so excited for you to read it! Instead, I’ll leave you with a quote from the story: “We all have a past that haunts us…” Eerie right?
On a personal note, I’m happy to say I’ve unlocked an achievement in my fitness goals. This week I learned during the past four weeks of a disciplined diet and exercise program, I’ve lost 7 pounds and some inches! *bursts into happy dance* Has it been easy? Oh gosh no. Did I achieve the end result I wanted in four weeks? Absolutely not. Will I continue with it? You bet I will.
I’ve not only changed my outlook of fitness, but I’ve also transformed the way I see food. My success has been rooted in finding an exercise I love and surrounding myself with people who encourage me to succeed. And like the saying goes, I am also choosing to eat to live, not live to eat. What exactly is my diet and fitness plan? Message me or comment below if you’re dying to know and I’ll tell ya. 🙂
Lastly, spring is here which means… poison oak is popping up like crazy on our property. It’s a weekend task to tackle in our near future. With so many plans for our land (including finally getting goats!), I really want to eliminate the poison oak now as we transition our home into a homestead. Got any tried and true methods of getting rid of this nasty stuff? Let me know.
It’s now back to the craziness of everyday life and making sure I continue to write. To my fellow writers, write on. And to all of you, happy reading.
Here’s to the next post,
